notate runs entirely in your browser. your work data is stored locally and never transmitted to external servers unless you use AI features with your own API key.

third-party services

notate's AI features use a bring-your-own-key (BYOK) model. when you provide your own API key, you interact directly with third-party AI providers:

• video workspace: uses Google's Gemini API. by providing your own Gemini API key, you agree to Google's API terms.
• text editor: supports any OpenAI-compatible API provider (OpenAI, Gemini, or custom endpoints). you are responsible for compliance with your chosen provider's terms of service.

notate is not affiliated with any AI provider and has no control over their data processing. your API keys and data are handled directly between your browser and the provider you choose.
